Danika Grundemann, LMFT

I specialize in working with folx who identify with the following communities: consensual non-monogamy (CNM), polyamory, kink, BDSM, and LGBTQA+ and who are struggling with anxiety, depression and a history of trauma.

.....

I think of psychotherapy as a necessary form of social activism toward a larger goal of equity for people of all races, genders, sexual/relational orientations, levels of ability, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Let's work together to bring you back to yourself, your relationships and your community!

A bit about therapy with me....

Beautiful Nature

Therapy can help you reach your personal goals through a meaningful clinical relationship that offers you reflection, validation and the tools you need to overcome the challenges you face.
I utilize some of the following modalities to assist you in reaching your goals:

Narrative Therapy - this modality uses story-telling and story-re-writing to deconstruct narratives that have been told or taught to you by your family-of-origin or the majority culture.

Somatic and Mindfulness techniques - through guided mindfulness exercises and somatic (of, relating to, or affecting the body) experiences, these modalities help bring you back into the home of your body and increase your ability to self-regulate difficult emotions while also building your emotional intelligence and strengthening your emotional resilience.

Psychodynamic Theory - psychodynamic, or depth psychology, is the psychological theory that explores the relationship between the conscious and the unconscious, as well as the patterns and dynamics of motivation and the mind. Through exploring your childhood, family-of-origin, and trauma history, I aid in your healing of past wounds and an uncovering of shadowed aspects of your identity and relationship to self.

Feminist Theory - A core aspect of feminist therapy is power analysis, or the consideration of how differences in power and privilege between genders or various social or demographic groups can affect feelings of self-worth, mental health symptoms, routine behaviors, and life choices.
