Diverse Paths Psychotherapy

FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions

01
How long are sessions? How long is total treatment?
Sessions are 50 minutes long; this is the industry standard, and the infamously termed "psychotherapy-hour."
Total treatment times vary and are according to your unique needs, but I typically see clients for 1 year or longer. Many of my clients take a break from treatment and return later for more support as their lives have changed.
02
How much does therapy cost? Do you take insurance?
I offer a sliding scale fee for clients who pay out-of-pocket. The sliding scale takes a client’s income after taxes and compares it to the current poverty guidelines for their local area. This usually looks like paying the full fee if a person is 3x or higher their local poverty guidelines, paying a mid-range fee if a person is 2x the guidelines, and the lowest fee if at, or near, the poverty guideline. Fees are discussed and agreed upon before treatment begins so there are no surprises.

***If you do not see your health insurance provider above you may still be able to get partially reimbursed through your plan by providing them a "superbill." The platform I use for telehealth sessions, ALMA, will automatically generate this superbill document for you at the end of every month.

I am also an Out-of-Network provider for many other insurance companies including Anthem Blue Cross, and depending on your insurance plan, you may be eligible for reimbursement up to 70%!
Check your reimbursement eligibility with Mentaya, a company I work with to get you money back with minimal effort.

What does a typical session look/feel like?
This is a question I often receive and, though you may be dissatisfied, I do not have an answer. Sessions are different with each of my clients as I provide client-centered care and you are unique in every way. The first one to two sessions I will be doing an informal intake assessment, getting to know you, strengths, struggles and all. We will then collaborate to create treatment goals, and objectives for how to meet them. This treatment plan will be our roadmap in our work together to keep us on track. We will refer back to your goals often and they can also change as you progress and learn more about yourself.

Therapy doesn't always feel good. It's important to know this and recognize that growth is often uncomfortable. I will always do my very best to support you during your growing pains.
